چکیده

Sir, Multiple myeloma is a monoclonal B-cell neoplasm, which is characterized by autonomous proliferation of immunoglobulin-secreting plasma cells, capable of synthesizing amyloidogenic light chains (AL). AL amyloidosis is characterized by extracellular deposition of eosinophilic, homogeneous, amorphous material composed of fibrillary protein, containing light chain fragments (1). The oral clinical features of patients with AL amyloidosis include papules, nodules, plaques and macroglossia (2). To our knowledge, verrucous masses on both lateral sides of the tongue, without macroglossia, have not been described in the literature so far. Herein, we report such a case.

A Rare Presentation of Multiple Myeloma: A Case Report of Hepatic Amyloidosis

The clinically reported case of liver involvement with multiple myeloma (MM) is rare. Amyloidosis, defined as a tissue deposition of clonal light-chain fibrils, has been reported in 10-15% of the MM patients. We described a rare MM patient with the primal presentation of fulminant hepatic failure and biliary system involvement due to amyloidosis. Our patient had the primal symptoms of hyperbili...

Systemic amyloidosis secondary to myeloma is an uncommon condition that often has an insidious onset and poses as a diagnostic challenge due to the lack of typical presenting symptoms and signs. Prompt diagnosis of amyloidosis and appropriate referral have the potential to improve outcome for these patients. Here, we report the unusual case of a man whose primary presenting complaint was of lon...

Nonsecretory Multiple Myeloma and AL Amyloidosis Presenting with Nephrotic Range Proteinuria

Nonsecretory multiple myeloma (NSMM) is the absence of a detectable monoclonal protein in serum and urine of a multiple myeloma (MM) patient and immunoglobulin light chain (AL) amyloidosis is a significantly rare complication. A case of NSMM with AL amyloidosis and nephrotic range proteinuria is presented. Sharing clinical, therapeutic, and prognostic characteristics with MM, real challenge may...
